Iridescent Friesian

An original portrait of a Friesian horse, created entirely with coloured pencils.
I wanted to capture the beautiful, almost iridescent quality of a Friesian’s dark coat, so I used layers of subtle colours to create the way the coat catches and reflects the light. Although the horse appears black at first glance, there are many different tones hidden within the coat.
Comes with a white mount ( passe-partout) and measures 50 cm x 50 cm (19.7”x19.7”)
